Spain, officially the Kingdom of Spain (Spanish: Reino de España, unofficially in Galician: Reino de España; Catalan: Regne d'Espanya; Basque: Espainiako Erresuma; Occitan: Regne d'Espanha; Asturian: Reinu d'España), is the largest of the three sovereign nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula—the others are Portugal and Andorra—located in Southern Europe. To the west and to the south of Galicia, Spain borders Portugal. To the south, it borders Gibraltar and, through its cities in North Africa (Ceuta and Melilla), Morocco. To the northeast, along the Pyrenees mountain range, it borders France and the tiny principality of Andorra. It also includes the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea, the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean and a number of uninhabited islands on the Mediterranean side of the strait of Gibraltar, known as Plazas de soberanía, such as the Chafarine islands, the isle of Alborán, the "rocks" (peñones) of Vélez and Alhucemas, and the tiny Isla Perejil }. In the northeast along the Pyrenees, a small exclave town called Llívia in Catalonia is surrounded by French territory.

The indigenous peoples of the Iberian peninsula, consisting of a number of separate tribes, are given the generic name of Iberians. This may have included the Basques, as one of the pre-Celtic people. The most important culture of this period is that of the city of Tartessos. Beginning in the 8th century BCE, Celtic tribes entered the Iberian peninsula through the Pyrenees and settled throughout the peninsula, becoming the Celtiberians. The seafaring Phoenicians, Greeks and Carthaginians successively settled along the Mediterranean coast and founded trading colonies there over a period of several centuries.

Around 1100 BCE, Phoenician merchants founded the trading colony of Gadir or Gades (modern day Cádiz) near Tartessos. In the 9th century BCE the first Greek colonies... (for more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spain )

And now the beautiful and proud Seville, Seville, well embodied by one of the most reknewd fiction beauty of all music history, Carmen (opera by Bisetz), who drove men to hate and crime, driving them mad with her passionate character! You'll love this city where you just have to relax, enjoy delicious tapas at Alvaro's place in the Santa Cruz district, and be seduced by it's lazy, oneiric atmosphere at siesta time in the Maria Luisa Park...or check where some scene from great movies such as Lawrence of Arabia, Star War Episode II or Kinghdom of heaven were filmed!

That was a Lisbon view, now I'm posting a picture from Toledo, a beautiful medioeval town near Madrid. It's wonderful to walk algong it's narrow alleys, dreaming about knights and dragons, trying to discover the ancient secret of Toledan swards, well kept by the blacksmiths of the region...just amazing!

Hey! I'm back in Barcelona again! I spent the last 6 days around the Iberian peninsulae and I'm tired but absolutely enthusistic about it! Lisbon was wonderful and I look forward to visit it again, but I also loved Seville, Toledo and Salamanca...you should definitely visit them...astonishing, of an imposing, breathtaking beauty...here goes some pictures...and if you will to visit them on a low-budget easy going way check out the first hop-on hop-off travel network for Spain and Portugal, EUROHOP! at www.eurohop.eu

Do you know I love poppies? It's one of the flower I love the most together with tulips, but I like to see them in wide, green meadows...actually I don't like receiving bouquets or bunch of flowers, I prefer plants, even if now I don't even have a balcony to put them out...so I'm sharing a flat with 2 small cactus and a "lucky bamboo" that isn't a bamboo but an agavacea...
Anyway, this picture is for my mam, as she loves poppies as I do and I'm really looking forward to see her!
Hug and kisses to you all!

FC BARCELONA: THE CHAMPIONS!
While in Paris Barça FC was celebrating winning the Champion League after an incredible match and two incredibles goals by Eto'o and Belletti, in Barcelona a quite small group of vandals -small in comparaison with all those who were celebrating peacefully until 2:30 a.m- took advantage, once again, of the huge celebration meeting, to plunder, destroy, disturb and devaste Rambla Canaletas and other places in the city center...
So, as the Barcelona FC hymn says, for todays's celebrations "tot's al camp, tots al camp..."* everybody at the stadium, everybody at the stadium (camp in catalan means stadium and refers to Camp Nou, the official Stadium of the team)
